Why A Cultured Business?
As the founder and former Executive Director of a culturally specific Black woman-led nonprofit, The Safe Sisters Circle, for almost six years, Alana can relate firsthand to the problems that Black women leaders face in the nonprofit space through her lived experiences.
Alana deeply understands how misogynoir (intersection of racialized and gendered violent oppression against Black women) is at play within the nonprofit space within its leadership, with its structure, and how those things put its clients- majority Black and Brown communities- in danger or at risk of getting inferior or even harmful services. It also affects Black women leaders’ ability to get and maintain funding to provide sustainable services to make a positive, lasting impact within their communities.
Alana brings practical tools, authentic advice, and knowledge regarding how to handle challenges unique to Black women leaders while also supporting the development and/or sustaining of a successful, thriving, and intuitive nonprofit that positively impacts the Black community.
